Dare to believe in the reality of your assumption and watch the world play its part relative to its fulfillment. --Neville Goddard
During a meeting with my nutritionist earlier this evening, she told me that she could tell by the way I spoke about my health that I had a very positive attitude. She asked me what changed for me to get me to that positive mentality in which I was so committed to my health goals.
I told her two things changed. First, I invested my money into myself. Personal training doesn't come cheap and that's actually a good thing because once you plunk down the cash, most people will go just so they don't lose their money. That's what initially got me coming through the door on a regular basis.
However, even more importantly, I changed how I spoke about my health to anyone who would listen. Despite the challenging workouts, whenever people would ask me how my workout was, I would enthusiastically reply, "Great! Awesome! Amazing!" When I would come home from my workouts, I would show my girlfriend the things my trainer had me do that day with all the enthusiasm of a kid saying, "Look at me! Look what I can do!"
Now, I absolutely feel amazing after my workouts these days but in the beginning, as I was still working on changing my mentality, I didn't always feel that way. Was I lying then? No, not really because I knew that despite my mind not necessarily being there yet, my body was loving it! Our bodies want to be healthy and happy and I knew that my mind would catch up and it did! I am certain that had I not adjusted my mental perspective, I would've stuck with my trainer for my initial three months so as not to lose my money, but no doubt I would have quit after that. Instead, I am getting ready to renew with him again, bringing my total time with him to 9 months, and I don't plan on quitting anytime soon! If someone would've told me a year ago that I would be working out six days a week and loving every minute of it, I would've laughed....and laughed hard!
Have you ever asked someone how their job was going and you can just see their body language change as if someone just sucked all the energy from them? If you haven't noticed, try observing next time you ask. Additionally, what type of message are they sending themselves when they reply, "Oh, I'm hanging in there..." When you say that enough times, you start to believe it! How do you respond when someone asks you that question?
For today, I dare you to talk up a good game. Think of something in your life you've been wanting to improve and start adjusting your verbalization and your thoughts around it. For example, if you've been wanting to get healthier, talk it up! Instead of saying, "I have to go workout" as if it's some dreaded obligation, say to yourself and to anyone who will listen, "I GET to go workout today!" Act as if it's a privilege and it will become so!
This small adjustment will reap HUGE rewards! I hope you have fun with this. Thanks or reading today and for daring to dare!
